Privacy and disclaimer

This statement applies to every platform FileJax runs on.

Privacy

FileJax moves files between devices on your local network. There is no account, no sign-in and no FileJax server: nothing is uploaded to us, and there is no analytics, telemetry, advertising or third-party tracking in the app.

What the app accesses, and why

Local network

Files travel directly to the device you choose over a TLS connection that is pinned to the certificate discovered on that device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Camera

Used only to scan a receiver’s QR code. Nothing is recorded or stored.

Bluetooth

Used only to discover nearby FileJax devices. Files never travel over Bluetooth.

Photos and files

Read only so you can choose what to send. FileJax does not scan or upload your library.

Storage

Files you receive are kept in the app’s own folder until you delete or move them.

What is stored on your device

Device identity

A random device id, your chosen device name, and a TLS certificate that is rotated every 24 hours. Used so other FileJax devices can find and verify this one.

Paired devices

Names, addresses and certificate fingerprints of devices you paired with. They expire after 24 hours and can be removed at any time from the Devices list.

Transfer state

An identifier for a transfer in progress, so an interrupted transfer can resume instead of starting over.

Received files

Kept only in the app’s folder. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Sharing

We do not sell, share or transmit your data, because we never receive it. Files go only to the device you pick, on your network.

Disclaimer

FileJax is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. You use it at your own risk and are responsible for the files you send and for the networks you send them over.

Transfers depend on the local network and on the receiving device keeping FileJax open; a transfer can fail or be interrupted, and interrupted transfers resume only while the receiving device still holds its partial copies. Do not rely on FileJax as the only copy of anything important.

FileJax is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Google or any device manufacturer. Product names are used only to describe compatibility.

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for lost or corrupted files, missed transfers, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be limited by law.
